Let’s get Bucks Buzzing

Welcome to Bucks Buzzing, and your chance to help the insect pollinators that help all of us.

Pollinators come in a range of shapes and sizes from bumblebees to butterflies, moths to hoverflies, and many more. We depend on pollinating insects for much of our food including apples, pears, strawberries, plums, peas, beans, and for other important plants like wildflowers. But our insects are falling in numbers and are in severe decline across Buckinghamshire and nationally.

You can help! We have lots of advice on the Bucks Buzzing website, from Creating Wilder Spaces in our communities to resources for helping each of us to get our homes and workplaces buzzing with wildlife.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far!

Over the past five years, we’re distributed over 1,500 packs of wildflower seeds across Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes to local residents, organisations, businesses, parish councils, schools and community groups. Thank you to everyone who signed up for seeds and got planting for pollinators! Let’s keep the momentum going: manage your garden for wildlife, build a bug hotel for pollinators, leave areas to grow wild, and encourage others to do the same.

Encouraging pollinators is something everyone can do. Can you grow some wildflowers in your patch, leave wild plants to flower, improve a hedgerow, dig a pond or create places for insects to live?

For ideas of what you can do, download the Bucks Buzzing Poster, check out the Resources and Wilder Spaces sections, or find inspiration from our Case Studies. You can also submit the details of your own project, to let us know how you are getting on and to inspire others.
